Cars Cheaper in 2010

According to the Used Car Prices Index, a motor industry publication by CAP, used car prices in August 2010 are cheaper than a year ago.
Average prices are stated to be 3% lower than 12 months ago, but prices vary according to sector.
The best performing sector was the 4X4’s which showed an 11% increase while city cars and superminis were down by 10%.

Car Insurance Costs Up Again

It’s a Monday so let’s get all the bad news over and done with today.
Hidden away in the recent budget and with nobody, so far, commenting on it but with the exception of Life policies all other insurances, including car insurance, had their Insurance Premium Tax raised from 5 to 6%.
That doesn’t sound much but couple it with the rise in VAT from 17.5 to 20% and it all adds up.

UK Emergency Budget Will Mean Less Speed Cameras

Even though the UK emergency budget is not until Tuesday 22nd June the RAC motoring organisation are reporting they have seen a document which warns of increased deaths on the roads if road safety partnerships are to be scrapped because of public spending cuts.
The new spending cuts are expected to result in no new fixed speed cameras, possible reduction of existing speed camera numbers, traffic policing reduced and also civilian camera operators and speed awareness courses severely cut back.

Even though Beijing is called the "City of Bicycles" this video shows even worse motor traffic congestion involving cars etc. The Chinese are even reverting to an old system proposed in the west years ago of using odd and even last digits on number plates to restrict daily access onto roads.
