The Bad and Boring 2010 Bahrain GP.

The first GP event under the 2010 new rules was good news for the tea industry  what a boring event, you cannot, repeat cannot call that a race.
Perhaps the next GP in Australia which has a shorter lap will provide more of a spectacle but on this long track in Bahrain under these new rules what a bore yesterdays event was.
Ferrari only got their first and second places by default due to a spark plug malfunction in pole sitter Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull on lap 34 of 49 which allowed race winner Alonso, Massa and Hamilton to pass him, Vettel managed to hang on to finish fourth.
Computer technology now plays a huge part in GP events with engineers able to advise on the optimum weight of the car at the start with regard to fuel load and advised fuel consumption during the race, if cars had been fully loaded in Bahrain, and some were stated not to be, this would allow for more racing speed during the entire event and not just the last 10 or so laps when the remaining fuel load had been assessed to allow this.
This Bahrain track is so large it must have seemed to many TV viewers that the only spectators were in the sun protected main stand on the home straight proving it’s just another event in a rich country added to the GP season for the sole benefit of Ecclestone’s bank account.
