The first concept car version of this new Audi R4, a small mid-engined sports car, was seen at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Audi revealed their R4 e-tron smaller version at this month’s Detroit Motor Show with rear wheel drive. In motoring circles it is now accepted Audi are about to produce a production model of this zero emission sports car which could be available for sale by 2013.
Under the management of Briton Steve Lewis, this new, imaginative electric sports car was turned into reality in only 4 months following the go ahead from senior management.
Audi are claiming a 5.9secs time to reach 62mph with a limited top speed of 124mph and a range of 155 miles. Recharging the batteries takes between 2-11 hours dependant on the power available.
With only 3 weeks gone of 2010 the news of new car launches to come is picking up a pace for interesting times ahead, all we need now is the money.
