There is a question posed by the Daily Telegraph today which asks if drivers are leaving their cars in their garages and using alternative transport.
It seems that the suggestion is that government figures show that the more fuel costs the less we drive.
The Car Hub would put forward the point that as the UK is in one of its deepest ever recessions the probability is that drivers are being forced off the roads because of fuel prices and not because of choice or any “green” action.
With this present government , who want every penny they can get of our money, it will not help motorists one jot if they cut back on driving (when they can still afford it), as the loss of taxation received by the Treasury will only be balanced out by further, higher taxes on fuel.
Happy (continuous) motoring.
