Iogen Corporation a small high-tech company from Ottowa Canada are claiming their share of fame following Ferrari’s F1 win in Bahrain last Sunday.
Iogen produces its own type of ethanol made from wheat stalks, Shell Oil who are investors in Iogen have provided the fuel for Ferrari who have been carrying out tests in recent months.
It would seem the tests have been pretty successful as Jeff Passmore, a vice president of Iogen, has stated Ferrari intend to use this fuel for the full 19 race 2010 F1 season.
What is there different about an Eastern Ontario wheat stalk (straw), we don’t know yet but there will be a lot of traffic heading towards Double Diamond Farms in Mountain Ontario, who supply the wheat stalks to Iogen to try and find out.
All this might be good news for the oil industry in general but not if it means more land could be used to produce crops for ethanol rather than food.
What say you?
