What's the worst traffic jam you've ever been in?

Felt sorry for the people stuck in their cars during the recent snowy period, so wanted to hear what other people's experiences have been like.
Worst traffic jam for me has to be on Easter weekend about 10 years ago. Driving from Basingstoke to Nottingham. 3 hour journey ended up being nearly 9 hours! No adverse weather conditions, just TOO many people with the same idea as us.
...a horrific queue coming out of Merryhill. Can't remember when it was but it was the week before Xmas, so obviously exceptionally busy. Took over an hour and a half to get out, and not helped by a broken down car in the same lane! Needed a stiff drink when I got home!
With all these pot holes and road repairs suspended there won't be any roads to travel on before long.
Shank's pony will rule again!
