The VW Beetle, For The Effluent Driver.

GENeco, a British company owned by Wessex Water has modified a VW Beetle to run on methane gas.
The really basic fact is the car is able to cover 10,000 miles on the excrement flushed from 70 homes, this equates to an average years motoring.
The normal performance of the Beetle is not compromised and unlike earlier efforts the fuel does not emit any foul smells to give the game away.
The car is started normally using its fossil fuel mode then, when the engine temperature is up, it switches to methane gas mode.
Before the gas can be used in the car it must go through a “ biogas upgrading”, the same process will be applied in the future when food waste will also be utilized.
Everyone at GENeco are flushed with the prospect of being at the front end of this fully sustainable fuel project.
