The SMMT (Society of Motoring Manufacturers and Traders) have announced that UK car sales for Jan – July were up by 1.2% despite a drop in the month of July of 13.25%
The July drop this year is blamed on bumper sales in July last year prior to the UK car scrappage scheme coming to an end.
Diesel cars represented 50.6% of market share last month while alternatively fuelled cars saw their share leap by 52.6% but still only represent a miniscule 1.4% share of the market.
The following list represents the order of sales of the best selling cars in July:
1 Fiesta, 2 Astra, 3 Corsa, 4 Focus, 5 Qashqai, 6 Golf, 7 BMW3, 8 Insignia, 9 Polo, 10 Zafira.
