Motorists to Save The Country From Debt

Author: Bill

Hello, my name is Alice and I’m from Wonderland.
As a privileged car owner my Prime Minister has asked myself and all my fellow motorists to be the ones to make the major sacrifices to get his government out of the huge debts they say they have accumulated on our behalf.
The Prime minister is asking us motorists to pay an extra 15pence per litre (= to 68p per gallon) for petrol and diesel this year alone, which will be in the form of taxation, it could well be a lot higher sum should even a 1p be added by the wholesale fuel suppliers.
Our P.M. has indicated that the current average cost per litre should rise from 108ppl to 123ppl in 2010 to cover a) the rise in VAT from 15% to 17.5% on Jan 1st. B) at the start of April there is a planned increase in fuel duty which will rise in line with inflation plus 1ppl, c) there is also at least a further 1ppl extra tax to pay due to a biofuel incentive being removed.
As the country’s finances are so precarious, we privileged motorists could also see a further general 2.5% VAT increase to 20%, and who knows if our gilded politicians would also ask us to contribute a further 2ppl in additional tax around general election time.
As patriotic motorists we would be taking away a heavy financial burden from the over-laden pockets of our poor bankers, allowing our hard pressed M.P’s to increase their salaries at least two-fold now their expenses are reduced, and also not to upset the payment of gold plated pensions to retiring civil servants which we continue contributing to on a weekly basis. Our patriotic good nature does not permit us to raise any argument against the P.M’s proposals
As an eternal optimist, hoping that I may still be around next Xmas, the first item on my 2010 wish list could well be a 2nd or 3rd hand bicycle.
Wishing you a happy retirement in May Prime Minister.
We will remain forever in your debt.
