Jaguar To Close One Of Its UK Plants.

Jaguar stated today it would either close its Castle Bromwich plant or the one in Solihull, both in the Midlands.
Jaguar's owners Tata stated there would be an extra 800 jobs created at Halewood Merseyside for producing the new Range Rover.
I suppose this is good news for Mersyside but bad news for the Midlands.
What say you?

How To Stop Cars Speeding Through Villages

The local council could not afford a speed camera, so they put up a sign saying: Slow down Old People's Home. - It had no effect.

At the next meeting the decided to play on the paternal instincts and put up a sign:
Danger - Children at Play. The result was no discernable reduction in traffic speed.

Then the chairman had a brain-wave and suggested they try a sign with:
Nudist Colony. - As a result of the Nudist Colony notice, white vans and lorries crawl thought the village.

Thought I'd try this as an opener. Good Luck.

Top Gear Fans To Celebrate in November

For all fans of Jeremy Clarkson and his fellow presenters Xmas will arrive early this year, in fact in mid November.
The Beeb have just let it be known that the filming of the current series, No.14, will be in High Definition so any close-ups will be "warts-and-all" (more costs for extra make-up).
How much of a rush for H.D.boxes will this cause? Anyway, good news, it's about time the Beeb got its rear end into gear.

The New Mercedes Benz E-Class Estate

From early 2010, Mercedes Benz is launching the Estate version as another highly distinctive member of the Mercedes Benz E-Class family. Like the Saloon and Coupe, the Estate combines its own, elegant design with leadership in safety, comfort, quality and practicality.

A number of technical innovations have entered series production in the Mercedes Benz E-Class which no other car in this class is able to offer - from drowsiness detection to automatic emergency braking when an accident is recognised as imminent, and from Adaptive Highbeam Assist to the active bonnet.

Round-up: UK car-sharing websites

Maybe the title of this blog is a little misleading - the main thing about online uk car-pooling is that there really isn’t that much of it out there (though that’s not to say that there aren’t plenty of Google results for ‘uk car sharing’ just that most of them are not so useful) but let’s forget that minor detail and press on regardless…

Lay Off Lewis

Just who is behind the witch hunt against Lewis Hamilton and McLaren?

We now hear that the World Motor Sport Council may be called in again to investigate the “Melbourne” incident. This is the ruling body who investigated McLaren 19 months ago about whether they had gained technical information illegally from Ferrari.

Chinese Cars To Rule The World?

The headlong rush into electric driven cars has recently been given another push with the news that the UK government has promised up to £5000 to buyers who purchase a new electric car, starting in 2011.

Sounds ok on the surface but who is going to make all these new electric cars available and then at an affordable price?

Step forward BYD and step forward Warren Buffet.

A New Rail Revolution?

Am I the first to suspect that there may be a new transport revolution about to take place?

Recent reports of an 11% increase in rail fares. Daily news of cheaper matchbox seized electric cars on the road. UK roads still in a bad state of repair.

Well then, how does this grab you? Politicians make all the (foreign) electric cars available so that we, the public, take to the roads and jam them up while they and their civil servants are the only ones who can afford to travel, courtesy of expense accounts paid by us, by train.

Not such a silly thought is it?
