Will Abramovich’s Yacht Technology Aid Speeding Drivers

Chelsea F.C’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has got himself a new super-toy. His new floating gin palace at 557 feet long is 1.5 times the length of Chelsea’ football pitch, has 2 swimming pools, 2 helipads and its own missile system plus a James Bond style escape submarine.

Being Mr Abramovich’s yacht it also has another inbuilt defence system, one which defends it from the prying lenses of the tabloid press photographers. The technology of the system is very simple, the equipment is able to detect electronic light sensors, which are a component of digital cameras, so that the camera shot can be nullified by a beam which renders the photos unusable.

A small personal version has been invented in the shape of a purse by an American student, it detects the camera flash and its own response is so fast that once again the photo is ruined.

In the yacht’s system it’s said the technology detects the digital camera’s light sensors, unfortunately Mr Abramovich’s system would have no defence against the “old-fashioned” mechanical cameras.

What’s all this got to do with motoring you ask, well if the above technology is so good – how long before someone fits it into their car to defeat the roadside speed cameras, could be worth the money if you have a heavy right foot.
